If you are considering laser eye surgery, it would be wise to first determine whether your eyes are compatible and whether you can receive treatment without risk.
The consultation can take place at the clinic in Amsterdam or at our branch in Nijmegen. We will provide you with extensive details about laser eye surgery and we will give you some information to take with you, so that you can read all about it in the comfort of your home.
What will be examined during the consultation?
We will perform a thorough eye exam with detailed eye measurements. This exam will also check whether you have astigmatism and whether your cornea is too thin for laser eye treatment.
We will collect the following information from your eyes:
- Shape and thickness of the cornea
- The type of vision disorder
- The strength of the refractive error in dioptres
- Eye pressure
How quickly can I make an appointment for a consultation?
Contact lens wearers can make an appointment for a consultation after a period of two weeks of not wearing contacts. This time period applies to those who wear soft contact lenses. Those who wear hard contact lenses must not wear their lenses for four weeks prior to the consultation. The reason is that contact lenses affect the shape of the cornea.
The cornea must be in its natural shape in order to be able to evaluate whether your eyes are eligible for laser treatment. Therefore, you must not wear your contact lenses for the designated period of time prior to your consultation! Of course, wearing your glasses is no problem at all.
For the health of your eyes, the consultation will be conducted very carefully. 30% of the people who come to us will not be considered for laser eye surgery based on our stringent quality requirements. It goes without saying that the health of your eyes is our primary concern.
If the consultation leads to a positive outcome and you are eligible for laser eye treatment, and you decide to undergo this treatment with us, we will schedule an appointment for a medical exam at the clinic in Amsterdam or at our branch in Nijmegen.
